Born and raised in Santa Clara County, Dr. Dhami is glad to be back to her roots. Her medical education journey started during her undergraduate studies at UC Davis. While there, she volunteered at Shifa Community Clinic, perfecting her native fluency of the Punjabi language. She worked as a case manager at Genentech, helping people with access to medications used in cancer treatments. Her journey took her to Grenada to attend medical school at St. George’s University. Clinical rotations gave her an opportunity to explore parts of New Jersey, as well as New York City, Chicago, and Baltimore.

She spent a year traveling the country as a volunteer with Remote Area Medical. It was at one of these clinics in Pahrump, NV that she met some lovely doctors who happened to be her future program director and senior residents. She began family medicine residency at the height of the pandemic in 2020, and graduated in 2023. During her residency, she was introduced to the world of direct primary care as one of the many practice models for a family physician. Once back to the bay area, she worked at John Muir in Walnut Creek as a primary care physician.

Through these experiences, she noticed that the healthcare system often needed people and resources to fill the gaps in healthcare access and affordability, and decided to pursue a change in the system. She left her position as an employed primary care physician to open her own direct primary care clinic. She hopes that this will expand the possibilities of what primary care can be and the role it can have in your life. Already, the freedom has afforded her the time to engage in advocacy work at the local and state level, and start a chapter of Walk with a Doc, in her hometown of Milpitas.

Get to know me

In case you get a little nervous about meeting a new doctor, here’s how I would introduce myself over coffee.

I enjoy time with my Maltipoo pup, Nemo. Some of my neighbors may know him from his fancy shoes to protect him from the elements and asphalt.

I am a NorCal girl at heart, and I enjoy being out among the coast redwoods, or at a cliffside beach with some fog. We love our fog Karl here.

I am a sci-fi and fantasy fan, and enjoy the classics such as Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, as well as good shows like Psych, Firefly, Doctor Who. The Moonstone DPC logo reflects some of these fandoms. I am a believer that a little whimsy goes a long way in helping make something not typically considered fun (like managing cholesterol) a whole lot more fun.

I look forward to getting to know about you over our time together. If you’re still unsure of whether you want to join Moonstone DPC, schedule a free Meet and Greet! I’d love to chat with you and see if we make a good team for your medical journey.
